Maintain Your Site
We
discussed this briefly earlier, but it is time to revisit your initial
plan to ensure it is being implemented effectively. The task of keeping
your Web site operating effectively can require a considerable amount
of work. Consider the following on-going tasks:
- Keep your site content fresh, interesting, and in Web-suitable style
- Ensure the site's content is accurate and up-to-date
- Track site user flow
- Check that all links are active and are accurately described on your site
The Web editor, revisited.
It is the Web editor's on-going responsibility is to make sure that new
content fits with the business goals of the site and to maintain the
design standards established when the site was created.
The
Web editor usually does not create site content but has the chore to
get needed content from people in the business or find other
appropriate content. The editor is an integrator of marketing and sales
information, product spec's, feature columns, "ask us" responses, etc.
Usually a weekly site management meeting is adequate to keep on top of
planned changes to a small business Web site.
Review your
preliminary content plan and note how well the strategies developed
there are being implemented. List any revisions here.
