Create a Site Maintenance Plan
A
site maintenance plan embodies the dynamic nature of Web sites. It
anticipates the need to modify and update content and improve site
performance.
- Update and expand your content- To keep your site interesting and up-to-date, you'll need to continually add fresh material.
- Track
the visits to your site- Monitor how visitors are using your site If
you have areas that no one cares about, for example, you may want to
drop them in favor of new, more appealing content or features.
Sites
are maintained by a Web editor and Web master. The Web editor is in
charge of editing visual and editorial aspects of the site. The Web
master is in charge of maintaining the technical aspects of the site. A
site maintenance plan is developed to ensure that both the editorial
and technical aspects of the site are attended to purposefully. Content
and technical changes can be identified and planned for - progress is
reviewed periodically (daily/weekly) to see of the plan is on target.
Immediate site corrective actions generally fall to the Web master who
must be available to handle them.
Define the scope of your
Web editor's responsibilities. Include information about revision
schedules and new content development.
